Pakistan Railways to kick off ‘Azadi Train’ on Saturday

Pakistan’s Independence Day preparations are underway across the country. People from all walk of life celebrating Independence Day with patriotic zest.

Pakistan Railways has announced “Special Azadi Train” a couple of days before and has finalized schedule of Azadi Train to be run on the occasion of country’s 70th Independence Day.

The journey of this special train will begin from Margalla Station Islamabad on Saturday 12th August and will cover thousands of kilometer long to conclude at Karachi on 25th of this month.

The train will showcase ethnic festivities by night staying at major stations. ‘Azadi Train’ will encompass of five galleries and six floats.

The five galleries comprise themes like Independence Movement, sacrifices rendered by Armed Forces of Pakistan for safety and security of nation, Human Rights Violations in Indian Held Kashmir, development projects of Pakistan and CPEC and history and future plans of Pakistan Railways.

The six Floats will comprise of one float each related to Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir depicting the regional diversity and different cultural shades of each region.

Meanwhile, more than 100 labourers are working to finalise models of different cultural heritages of Pakistan. Azadi Train will be inaugurated on August 12 for celebrating 70th anniversary of Pakistan

Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) will arrange 36 folk artists i.e. singers and musicians, including puppeteers to accompany the Azadi Train 2017, for which funding will be provided by Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage (IB&NH).

The artists and singers will perform at all major railway stations, including Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Sukkur, Quetta and Karachi, as per schedule of Azadi train.
