10 dead, 15 hospitalized in Canada mass stabbing attacks

Canadian police is searching across the province of Saskatchewan for two suspects believed to have stabbed 10 people to death and wounded at least 15 in an Indigenous community. This is one of the deadliest mass killings in the country’s history.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has issued a “dangerous persons” warning across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta for the two suspects who are identified as Damien Sanderson and Myles Sanderson and are said to be traveling in a black Nissan Rogue with a Saskatchewan license plate 119 MPI.

The RCMP of the three Canadian provinces are all jointly investigating the stabbings across 13 crime scenes that are declared as one of the deadliest killing sprees in the history of modern Canada and will certainly resonate throughout the country.

“We are dedicating a maximum number of resources to this investigation,” said Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore with the RCMP Saskatchewan in a statement. “We believe some of the victims have been targeted by the suspects and others have been attacked randomly,” Blackmore added.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was “shocked and devastated” by the “horrific” attacks and asked people to follow precautions as issued by law enforcement agencies.

“As Canadians, we mourn with everyone affected by this tragic violence, and with the people of Saskatchewan,” Trudeau wrote in a Twitter post later on Sunday. “The Government of Canada has been in direct communication with the James Smith Cree Nation community leadership and we are ready to assist in any way we can. Those responsible for today’s abhorrent attacks must be fully brought to justice.”
