Ambassador Sohail Mahmood visits Urdu Department at Ankara University

ANKARA, 22 May 2015:  The Ambassador of Pakistan, Mr. Sohail Mahmood, visited the Urdu Department of Ankara University. He had a detailed meeting with Prof. Dr. Abdulkadir Gurer, Dean, Faculty of the Languages, History and Geography and exchanged views on matters related to further promoting educational links between Ankara University and Pakistani Universities. The Ambassador also visited the Urdu Department and met with its Chairperson Prof. Dr. Asuman Belen Özcan, other faculty members and students. Matters relating to the promotion of Urdu language and literature in Turkey came under discussion.

 The Urdu Department was established in 1960 in the Faculty of Languages, History & Geography. The Faculty was established in 1935 and currently has over 8,000 students. Over 100 students are pursuing studies at the undergraduate and graduate levels at the Urdu Department.
