Pakistan and Qatar officials discussed defense, security and bilteral issues

Pakistan’s army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Qatar to discuss defense cooperation and other issues of mutual interest.

During his two-day visit, Chief of Army Staff Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa met with Emir of Qatar His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani. They reviewed bilateral relations between Pakistan and Qatar and the means to enhance the ties and also discussed regional and international developments. 

Gen Bajwa also held meetings with Chief of Staff Qatar Armed Forces Lt. Gen. (Pilot) Ghanim Bin Shaheen Al-Ghanim and deputy prime minister and the defense minister Khalid Bin Muhammad Al-Attiya during the trip.

Qatar armed forces chief and Pakistan army chief discussed defense and security, matters of mutual interest, and the regional geopolitical situation, the ISPR statement said.

General Bajwa also witnessed the passing out parade at Ahmed Bin Muhammad Military College. He was impressed by the high standards maintained at the institution and its efforts towards grooming young cadets to take on challenges of the future battlefield.

Pakistan-Qatar growing military ties

A short while back, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan also visited the brotherly state of Qatar and discussed various matters of mutual interest with his Qatari counterpart. The two also discussed the JF-17 Thunder fighter jet. Qatar also showed keen interest in the JF-17 Thunder Block II fighter jets.

Pakistan and Qatar appear to be making strides in military cooperation keeping in view the recent meetings between the two sides. This can not only bring the two brotherly nations closer but also help strengthen each other’s military forces as well.
