Foreign funding behind conspiracy to overthrow PTI government, says Pakistan PM Khan

“We will never compromise on Pakistan’s national interests”: PM Imran Khan

Prime Minister Imran Khan has claimed that foreign funding is behind opposition’s no-confidence move and conspiracy to overthrow his democratically elected government.

He claimed to have evidence of foreign funding and threats and said he is in possession of a letter that proved the involvement of a foreign hand in efforts to topple his government.

“We are getting threats. There are many things about foreign conspiracy which will be shared very soon.” He said the evidence and more information will be shared at the appropriate time.

He made the claims at his party’s power show called Amr Bil Maroof (enjoin the good), a historic rally at Parade Ground in Islamabad.

“Attempts are being made through foreign money to change the government in Pakistan. Our people are being used. We know from where attempts are being to pressurize us. We have been threatened in writing but we will not compromise on national interest.”

Addressing a charged crowd, PM Khan vowed to continue to keep national interests first and follow an independent foreign policy.

Without naming any country, the prime minister disclosed that for the past several months’ efforts were being made to influence Pakistan’s foreign policy.

“Attempts are being made to influence our foreign policy from abroad. We have been aware of this conspiracy for months,” he said.

The Prime Minister said “three stooges of the opposition” had plundred the country for the last 30 years and now they wanted NRO so that they could protect their billions of dollars worth properties and offshore accounts.

The prime minister linked his anti-corruption crusade with the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), saying “Our Prophet had also emphasised for the supremacy of law. I won’t give them NRO because my Prophet had explained that nations get destroyed when you punish the poor and exempt the rich.”

“Come what may, I will not forgive them even if my government goes or even if I lose my life,” he added.

During a 100-minute speech, the prime minister recalled “achievements” with regard to the country’s economy and improving the lives of the people.
