Former CJP Nasirul Mulk to be caretaker PM of Pakistan

Former chief justice Nasirul Mulk was announced as the caretaker prime minister on Monday.

The decision was announced as the caretaker prime minister on Monday during a joint press conference held by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah.

It took the government and the opposition six meetings to decide on a name for the coveted position.

“Today is a day of great importance in the democratic run of the country. We have agreed on an individual for the position,” said the premier during the press conference.

Leader of the Opposition Khursheed Shah said “We are happy that the government was able to complete its five-year term,”, adding that the NA speaker had played a major role in both parties reaching an agreement.

“We have made a democratic decision. I am thankful to the PM, to the speaker, for making this decision with patience, setting aside our sentiments. The name of the person I would like to present is a very respectable one,” the veteran PPP leader said.
