In a meeting with delegation of businessmen on Saturday, Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana ensured full support to Pakistan’s business community and announced that new energy projects will soon be implemented.
Huge investment is now pouring in the energy sector and several new projects are in the pipeline which include solar, hydel, coal and nuclear, besides the three new power generation plants that would run with LNG.
Tarbela is being upgraded while work on Dasu dam is in full swing, which indicates country’s energy sector is now growing robust with each passing day.
These energy projects would enable the country to meet its energy needs for the next decade, Governor Punjab said expressing his optimism that loadshedding would end soon.
He said that vibrant private sector of Pakistan is engine of the growth which will be given all the facilities as its importance cannot be undermined.
Rafique Rajwana was talking to a delegation of United Business Group (UBG) led by its Chairman Iftikhar Ali Malik, President Federation Of Pakistan Chambers Of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) Mian Idrees, Senator Ilyas Bilour, FPCCI presidential candidate Abdul Rauf Alam, SM Naseer, Malik Sohail and others.
Representatives of the business community informed the governor about the issues faced by the community and sought his help to resolve issues. Responding to their concerns, Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana said that he is personally against harassing the business community and that role of tax collectors should be minimized. He promised forward the concerns of business community over money laundering bill.
He said government is aware of the problems of the business community which would be resolved soon.
Pakistan has embarked on the path of high growth economy and is heading towards a bright future, he said.
Pakistan government has achieved almost all of the objectives in last two years while successfully meeting the challenge of extremism, terrorism and the chronic energy shortages.
The Governor said that difficult decisions on vital national matters were now being taken with consensus, adding that huge investment was pouring in the energy sector and several new projects were in the pipeline.
The meeting was attended by representatives of dozens of chambers and trade associations from all across the country.
