Japan offers 70 training programs for Pakistanis

Over a hundred Pakistanis will receive professional training in 70 different areas under a training program offered by the government of Japan.

The annual training for Pakistani nationals, to be held in Japan or implemented online, is part of development cooperation between the two countries.

The programs cover various sectors from social needs including Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), energy, education, health, water resources, environment and human development, industrial, agriculture and transportation. The subjects of governance, disaster risk reduction and gender are also covered in the program.

The training is implemented by JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) with the support of Japanese ministries, municipalities, universities and relevant organizations.

Matsuda Kuninori, the Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, hoped that the programs in Japan will help broaden the knowledge of Pakistani participants “to contribute towards the bright future of Pakistan and further strengthen of Japan-Pakistan relations.”

Approximately 6,000 Pakistanis have benefitted from the program which has been running since 1957.

Due to travel restrictions posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the training is being held online this year. There are 120 participants this year.
