Pakistan marks moment of silence across the country to show solidarity with the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir.
Kashmir Solidarity Day observed today across Pakistan with a pledge to get the Kashmir issue resolved according to the United Nations resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiris.
One-minute silence was observed at 10am across the country in connection with the Kashmir solidarity day.
Pakistani, Kashmiri representatives and people from different walk of life reiterated total solidarity by forming human chain on Kohala bridge, an entry point of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
The Pakistani government has announced February 5 as a holiday to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day. The hallmark of the Kashmir Day is to resolve the issue according to the United Nations resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiris.
In his message, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has urged India to stop bloodbath in the Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and allow holding of free and fair plebiscite under the auspices of the United Nations.
“Pakistan calls upon the international community to raise its voice in seeking an end to the gross violations of human rights and the reign of terror unleashed by Indian occupation forces in IHK and fulfill the promises it made with the people of Jammu and Kashmir 70 years ago,” PM Nawaz Sharif said in a message on the Kashmir Solidarity Day.
He further stated that for the last seven decades, India had denied the valiant people of Indian-held Kashmir (IHK), the right to self-determination promised to them by the international community through numerous UN Security Council Resolutions.
Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain said in his statement at Kashmir Day “the dream for peace in the region would remain elusive until resolution of Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of people of Indian-held Kashmir (IHK)”.
He added that Indian state terrorism had failed to deter the Kashmiris in their struggle for freedom from the Indian oppression.
Pakistan releases song paying rich tribute to Kashmiris
Pakistan Army released a video song on Saturday night to show solidarity with the people of Kashmir, this release was perfectly scheduled hours before Kashmir Day which is observed annually in Pakistan on February 5.
The song was released by army’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on social media. Titled “Sangbaaz (Stone – Pelters)” is a song expressing solidarity with the youth of Kashmir.
Its lyrics urge India to leave Kashmir. The video shows that the song was likely pictured using actual footage from Kashmir. Tensions between Pakistan and India have been running high, with an escalation in ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and Working Boundary.
According to human rights reports in last 28 years, Indian forces martyred 94,610 Kashmiris in fake encounters and in peaceful protests. 139,612 Kashmiris were jailed and 107,740 homes were set on fire.
