Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Lahore to attend the induction ceremony. He said that the induction of the state-of-the-art weapon system will help meet future battlefield challenges.

“Induction of these most modern guns with increased range, battlefield mobility and accuracy would assuredly enhance operational preparedness of Pakistan Army”, Gen Bajwa said.

Pakistan Army has been looking for a new self-propelled howitzer and settled upon the SH-15 155mm truck-mounted howitzer developed by China’s Norinco Group.

The SH-15 is a 155 mm/52-caliber mounted artillery system. It is based on a 6×6 chassis that has a four-door fully enclosed cab at the front, with a roof-mounted 12.7 mm machine gun (MG) for self-defence.

It has a maximum range of 50 km with a rocket-assisted projectile. The SH-15 can fire laser homing projectile, satellite-guided projectile, and top attack projectile.

The SH15 was displayed at Airshow China 2018 in Zhuhai.
