The Pakistani nation is celebrating the 142nd birth anniversary of the founding father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah today.

Quaid e Azam day celebration aims to renew commitment to work hard for the realization of the ideas Muhammad Ali Jinnah envisioned for Pakistan.

The day, a public holiday, dawned with a 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals, with the national flag hoisted at principal government buildings.

Governor and Chief Minister Sindh visited the tomb of Quaid to lay floral wreaths and offer Fateha. People from various walks of life would also visit the tomb of Quaid to pay tributes to the Founder of Pakistan.

A change of guard’s ceremony took place at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi earlier today. The cadets of Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul assumed the ceremonial guard duties at the mausoleum.

The Commandant of PMA Kakul, Maj. Gen. Akhtar Nawaz, was the chief guest at the ceremony. He also laid a floral wreath and offered fateha at Jinnah’s mausoleum.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in his message said this day has a special significance for the whole nation because besides paying tributes to the great lead and it was a day to reiterate the resolve for reviving Quaid’s thoughts and move forward with his ideas.

President Mamnoon Hussain said the ideal way to pay tribute to the great Quaid is not to hesitate from any sacrifice for the development and prosperity of the motherland.

A number of other events have been planned both at official and civil society levels to highlight life, achievements and different aspects of the personality of the Quaid.

Radio Pakistan will also broadcast special programmes, discussions, interviews and reports to highlight different phases of independence struggle and the leadership role of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
