Pakistan exports first indigenous SUV class vehicle

Pakistan has exported its first vehicle under the new Auto Industry Development and Export Policy (AIDEP 2021-26), according to a statement issued by the Master Changan Motors company on Thursday.

The Changan Oshan X7, the country’s first export car under the new auto policy, is the first vehicle that was launched via a global RHD premiere platform in March 2022. It is worth mentioning that Pakistan is the only country after China to produce the latest model of Changan Oshan X7.

The press release stated that as per the AIDEP, all OEMs would be required to initiate vehicle exports for the sake of assistance in building the local industry and boosting Pakistan’s export capabilities.

“We are delighted and proud to lead Pakistan into a new chapter for the auto industry and make its mark on a global level”, said the company’s CEO Danial Malik at a ceremony in Karachi, according to the press release.

“The Changan Oshan X7 is the first of many more vehicles to be exported under our vision to stay Future Forward, Forever and the Auto Industry Development and Export Policy (AIDEP 2021-26)”, he added.

Earlier, in March, the CEO revealed the SUV and announced the details during a press conference in Karachi, presenting a digital stream with an exuberant set. The digital stream was also televised at nationwide dealerships and by Changan partner outlets around the world.

According to the Master Changan Motors Company, Pakistan is its first and only RHD production center which is proving quite helpful in the brand’s global expansion. The state-of-the-art production plant was completed in a record time of 13 months. The plant has the capacity to manufacture 50,000 automobiles per year, it added.

“Master Changan is our first RHD production base and we are very happy to export our RHD Oshan X7 SUV from Pakistan”, Steven Zhao – Vice CEO of Master Changan Motors Ltd. stated.
