Pakistan troops conducting month-long exercise ‘Jidar-ul-Hadeed’ in Thar Desert

Pakistan Army is currently holding war games in the Thar desert. The month-long exercise codenamed ‘Jidar-ul-Hadeed’ that began on January 28 would conclude on Feb 28, the ISPR said.

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa also visited the training area in Thar Desert near Chhor and witnessed the ongoing training exercise wherein the operational capability of field formations operating in the desert is being tested in a near battlefield environment.

COAS was received by Corps Commander Lieutenant General Nadeem Ahmed Anjum. The exercise commander gave a detailed briefing to the COAS on the aim and objectives of ongoing exercise and drills and procedures being practiced to ensure complete dominance of the battlefield.

The exercise involves integrated maneuvers of infantry and mechanized forces in a defensive role.

While lauding the standard of training of participating troops, the Pakistan Army chief expressed complete satisfaction over operational preparedness and combat readiness of the formation. “Vigorous training and highest standard of preparedness in peacetime are the only guarantors of peace,” he said.

The troops have been undergoing this exercise under strenuous field conditions for over two weeks, the military spokesperson said.
