Brazilian star Ronaldinho with seven other players visiting Pakistan on 6-8 July

Following the upcoming visit of Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho, Pakistan’s military spokesperson Major General Asif Ghafoor has extended them a warm welcome from Pakistan.

According to a tweet by Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor, Brazilian star and his companions are visiting to promote sports in Pakistan on 6-8 of the next month.

Welcoming Ronaldinho and his team, the military spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor via military’s official twitter account said:

“We welcome @10Ronaldinho and his team to Pakistan 6-8 Jul 17 in co-ordination with @leisureleaguepk, Pakistan is a peace and sports loving country.”

“Their visit to Pakistan is indicative of return of sports and peace and sports loving Pakistani nation”, Gen Asif Ghafoor added.

He said, after cricket its football now, Chief of Army Staff takes another initiative to promote sports for return of normalcy in Pakistan.

The visit of Ronaldinho and seven other top footballers is being jointly organized by Pakistan Army and Leisure League. They will be participating in exhibition matches at Karachi and Lahore.

According to sources, the football legends will also meet with Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa during their visit.

Ronaldinho is currently the club ambassador for Spanish club FC Barcelona. He played 97 matches and scored 33 goals for the Brazil national team. He was an integral part of the 2002 FIFA World Cup-winning team.

In an attempt to bring international stars back in Pakistan, Leisure League PK has worked tirelessly, trying to lure world renowned football stars to Pakistan.

Almost a year ago, the league announced that FIFA’s former best player in the world, Ronaldinho Gaucho, former Chelsea Captain John Terry had agreed to visit Pakistan along with other teammates to play football friendlies in Pakistan.

Recently, Pakistan successfully hosted final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Lahore in an effort to resume international cricket which came to a halt after deadly militant attack on Sri Lankan team in 2009.
