Pakistani students invited to apply for Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program 2016

Pakistani students are invited to apply for Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science 2016 (SAKURA Exchange Program in Science), annually offered by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).

This is for the first that the program is being offered in Pakistan.

This program aims to promote exchanges between young Asian researchers and Japanese researchers in fields of science and technology through the close collaboration of industry-academia-government by facilitating short-term visits of competent Asian youths to Japan for studying and experiencing cutting-edge Japanese technology.

Purpose of SAKURA Exchange Program in Science

Promoting science and technology is a key engine to materialize a bright future of Asia and it is vitally important to enhance the exchange of Japanese and Asian youths who will play a crucial role in the field of science and technology.

Based on this concept, “Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science” (SAKURA Exchange Program in Science) is the program for enhancing exchanges between Asia and Japan of the youths who will play a crucial role in the future field of science and technology through the close collaboration of industry-academia-government by facilitating short-term visits of competent Asian youths to Japan. This program aims at raising the interest of Asian youths toward the leading Japanese science and technologies at Japanese universities, research institutions and private companies.

Countries and Regions eligible for invitation in 2016

The following 35 countries and regions are expected to be eligible for invitation for the SAKURA Exchange Program in Science for the year of 2016: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Republic of Korea, Kyrgyz Republic, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

Deadline to apply:

Interested educational institutions in Pakistan can apply for this program between October and November 2016.
