Pakistan’s JF17 Thunder and Super Mushak is taking part in Dubai Air Show

Pakistani contingent of the PAF along with JF17 Thunder and Super Mushak is taking part in the biggest ever edition of Dubai Air Show which kicked-off on Sunday.

The five-day Dubai Air Show, which is open for trade visitors only and will be the biggest in terms of the number of exhibitors, visitors and aircraft displays.

Approximately 72,500 trade visitors and 1,200 exhibitors expected to participate in 5-day air show. Pakistan’s minister for Defence Production Rana Tanvir Hussain was also present there.

At the inauguration of the biennial show, Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council.

On the first day of the show, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) pilot Wing Commander Yasir Mudassir remarkably displayed his aerobatic skills while flying JF-17 Thunder.

Air Commodore Muhammad Akhtar has said that PAF has close relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“PAF has been training the pilots of United Arab Emirates,” he said, adding that Dubai’s is one of the biggest airshows of the aviation industry.

The biennial Dubai Air Show opened  with hometown long-haul carrier Emirates making a $15.1-billion buy of American-made Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners, as the world’s biggest defense companies promoted their weapons amid heightened tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Dubai’s Emirates airline unveiled a provisional $15.1 billion order for 40 of Boeing’s 787-10 jetliners and deliveries will start in 2022 and it will take Emirates’ total wide-body commitment with Boeing to 204 units.

The world’s largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners Boeing and the biggest airline of the Middle East Emirates announced a commitment to purchase 40 787-10 Dreamliners at the airshow.

Other airlines also are taking part, but missing from the trade show this year is one of the region’s largest long-haul carriers, Qatar Airways, amid diplomatic fallout between Qatar and four Arab nations.

Emirates Chairman, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktoum, said the carrier had chosen the latest version of Boeing’s mid-sized wide-body jet after comparing it with the Airbus A350, according to Reuters.

Previously, the Dubai Airshow 2015 was our biggest show ever with 1,103 exhibitors from 63 countries, over 66,346 trade visitors, 1,296 international and regional media and an order book of $37.2 billion.
