Pakistan and Turkey to jointly develop satellites

Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) and Turkish Aerospace have announced cooperation on satellite development projects.

Under the framework of the agreement, “we will carry out joint work aimed at electrical communication and other space projects” which would benefit both countries, Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) said on Twitter.

Turkey has accelerated the development of satellites and other space-related technologies after the announcement of Turkey’s national space program in 2021.

Turkey’s first high-resolution observation and surveillance satellite GOKTURK-2 was launched in 2012 and manufactured with collaboration between TUBITAK, Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), and National Defense Ministry.

GOKTURK-1 satellite system, which was launched in December 2016, enables attaining high-resolution images from any region of the earth without geographical restriction for both military and civil applications.

GOKTURK-3 Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Earth Observation and Reconnaissance Satellite System aims to obtain the capability of imaging any region of the Earth with submeter resolution both in day and night conditions, and to satisfy SAR imagery needs by both military and civil applications.
