Electrification

Stellantis, the international automaker that owns 14 car brands including Peugeot, is preparing for the transition away from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles. Peugeot is accelerating its electrification and every new Peugeot model launched in Europe by 2030 will be full-electric only but the electric car has not yet been launched in Pakistan.

Despite the lows in Pakistan’s economic indicators, automobile companies are gearing up for the launch of new vehicles and are optimistic about the future. Some of the new cars planned to be launched in Pakistan, include Toyota Corolla 12th generation (hybrid), Suzuki Swift fourth generation, Peugeot 3008 and  5008, Changan Uni-T, Volkswagen, Skoda and KIA Cerato.

Volkswagen and Skoda cars are expected to be launched in Pakistan by the mid of next 2023. Volkswagen is investing around $135 million to set up an assembly unit in Hub, Balochistan. The production of Volkswagen and Skoda crossover and SUVs in Pakistan has been described as a “major breakthrough” for Pakistan’s automotive sector.
