PM Imran wants the next budget to focus on development, inflation control

The prime minister wants to create jobs and boost the economy

Prime Minister Imran Khan vowed to tackle rising inflation and increase the GDP growth in the upcoming budget. He said that the budget will focus on development projects as well. Speeding up projects was also discussed as it boosts the economy and creates new jobs. He also stressed that the projects should be as per the needs of the masses. Ways of controlling inflation were also discussed during a budget-related meeting.

“Give special attention to development projects and measures to control the inflation while formulating the upcoming annual budget,” Khan said at a meeting.

Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhary said that the provinces will get bigger developmental budgets this year as many of the members want greater developmental funds for their areas. There have been issues of underutilization of funds in the past, the minister said. He said that both Imran Khan and Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen want a developmental focus budget.

Other people in presence for the meeting were National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, federal ministers Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Pervaiz Khattak, Shafqat Mahmood, and Fawad Chaudhry, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shah Farman, KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, provincial ministers Hashim Jawan Bakht, Taimur Saleem Jhagra, and relevant senior officers.
