At least 11 coal miners were kidnapped and killed in the Machh area of Balochistan on Sunday by unidentified militants.

The police said the attackers abducted the miners and took them to the nearby hills where they were fired at and seriously injured.

The labourers were taken to the Machh hospital, however, all 11 miners succumbed to the severe injuries.

Heavy contingents of police, Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel and local administration cordoned off the area soon after the tragic incident.

PM orders arrest of the culprits

Prime Minister Imran Khan condemned the killing of 11 coal miners in Machh and termed the incident a “yet another cowardly [and] inhumane act of terrorism”.

“The families of the victims will not be left abandoned by the [government],” PM Imran stated in a tweet. “Have asked the FC to use all resources to apprehend these killers and bring them to justice.”

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan condemned the incident and sought an immediate inquiry report. “Those who targeted these innocent coal miners do not deserve any concessions,” he said.

Provincial Home Minister Mir Zia Langau vowed that “No stone should be left unturned in the arrest of the accused.” He termed the attack was “an unsuccessful attempt to sabotage the peace of the province.”
