7 things you can expect in Game of Thrones season 7 finale

Must Read

Jon Snow will finally meet Cersei as the Targaryen’s, Lannister’s and Stark’s clash in Game of Thrones finale

Game of Thrones Season 7 is gearing up for a much-anticipated finale episode. All the excitement that the show has been building up these past six seasons will come down to this: an epic meeting featuring all the major characters.

The final episode of season seven will see the Targaryen’s and their allies the Stark’s clash with the Lannister’s in an epic 80-minute showdown.

1. The Wall will Fall

This classic saying by Chekov explain things pretty well: “You don’t introduce a massive, magical wall made of ice in the first act unless you plan to bring it down in the final act.” The Wall has been the one thing keeping the dead at bay, away from the living. If we agree that Game of Thrones is about to let the White Walkers through into Westeros for this final six-episode arc, then it only makes sense for a huge symbolic gesture to mark the occasion — and there’s no greater symbol to destroy than the great Wall of Westeros.

2. Someone we care about will die

Candidates for the chop include Jaime (sure to fall out with Cersei sooner or late), Sansa (this close to pride of place on Arya’s kill list) and Littlefinger – whose attempted manipulation of the Stark siblings could blow up in his face.

3. Many meaningful reunions

Jaime and Brienne, Tyrion and Cersei, the Hound and the Mountain could all potentially share a uncomfortable moment as Westeros’s major players gather at the Dragonpit in King’s Landing. A good thing there’s a wight around to distract from all the awkwardness.

4. Jon and Daenerys will get together

Judging by the big moony glances the Mother of Dragons and the King in the North were throwing at one another in the previous episode, their mutual appreciation will shortly culminate in old-school Game of Thrones bedroom business – in the same hour in which they are potentially confirmed as aunt and nephew. A marriage proposal, perhaps? Not off the table!

5. Rhaegar Targaryen – aka Jon’s dead dad – will make an appearance

This is not likely, but the episode title may well imply an appearance by the long dead Targaryen prince. Rhaegar was said to be the most beautiful man in Westeros and was also Cersei Lannister’s crush. Much to her dismay, though, he fell in love with Lyanna Stark, Jon Snow’s mother and Ned Stark’s sister. Fans are convinced Rhaegar will appear in flashback before the season is out. If they’re correct, this weekend may finally solve the mystery of where Jon comes from and how his origins relate to his ultimate destiny.

6. Bran Stark is the Night King

The most popular fan theory is how Bran Stark has been the Night King all along. As the theory goes, using his powers of warging and greensight, Bran has been trying to stop disastrous events from happening, only to fail and ultimately bring about the present as we know it. If this theory sounds interesting, the full explanation, given by reddit user turm0il26, is worth the read.

7. Jon Snow is proven The Prince that was Promised

The most important implication of Jon Snow being the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen is that he is the legendary hero who will fight for humanity against the dark forces. Jon Snow is the likeliest of candidates and he has proven his credentials by repeatedly taking on the Army of the Dead. Anything short of the King in the North learning the truth about his background will be an extreme disappointment. Fingers crossed that the next step in the “Jon Targaryen” journey is more meaningful than that.
