Abdul Jabbar Bhatti becomes fourth Pakistani to scale Mount Everest

Pakistani mountaineers Nazir Sabir, Hasan Sadpara and Samina Baig conquered the world’s highest mountain before.

A retired Pakistan Army lieutenant colonel Abdul Jabbar Bhatti became the fourth Pakistani to successfully peak Mount Everest.

Lieutenant (R) colonel Abdul Jabbar Bhatti is an accomplished mountaineer and a past recipient of the President Pride of Performance award and the Tamgha-i-Basalat (Medal of Good Conduct) by the government.

According to the Radio Pakistan, Mountaineer Jabbar Bhatti took 90 days to achieve the feat. He achieved this remarkable feat at 14:30 local time on Sunday. He is the first Pakistani from province Punjab to scale Mount Everest.

Abdul Jabbar, earlier, had climbed several highest mountains in Pakistan. He has successfully summited Broad Peak (8,051 metres high) in 1985; Gasherbrum 2 (8,035m) in 1986 and Spantik Peak (7,027m) in 2012.

Moreover, three climbers died on the Everest over the weekend and another is missing, officials have confirmed.

Before him, the other three Pakistani mountaineers Nazir Sabir, Hasan Sadpara and Samina Baig have conquered the world’s highest mountain.

Nazir Sabir climbed Mount Everest in 2000, becoming the first Pakistani to do so. Hassan Sadapara who passed away In November last year, climbed the world’s highest peak 2011. Samina Baig the first Pakistani woman to climb the mountain did so in 2013.

Another Pakistani mountaineer named Saad Mehmood, is also attempting to scale the 8,848-metre high peak.
