45 countries will be participating in the exercise from 11th to 16th of February
Multinational Maritime Exercise AMAN-21, the seventh edition of the exercise, formally commenced with a colorful Flags Hoisting Ceremony held at Pakistan Navy Dockyard, Karachi. The exercise, which is being participated by 45 navies from around the globe, will be held from 11-16 February 2021. Senior military officials, diplomats, observers, and Pakistan Navy personnel attended the ceremony.
A message of Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi was also read at the occasion. He said that the exercise should serve as a means to develop doctrinal synergy to tackle maritime security challenges and to enhance interoperability amongst navies at different pedestals of the technological prowess to come together and secure a sustainable maritime environment.
Commander Pakistan Fleet, Rear Admiral Naveed Ashraf welcomed all the participants and appreciated them for their participation in the biennial exercise. He expressed hope that it will be mutually fruitful for all participants. He also acknowledged the flags of participating countries from across the globe fluttering together as an embodiment of the Exercise motto, ‘Together for Peace’.
The National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) is also holding the International Maritime Conference (IMC-21) from 13 to 15 February 2021 in collaboration with Pakistan Navy. International Maritime Conference will discuss the work of distinguished International and National scholars on the theme of “Development of Blue Economy under a Secure and Sustainable Environment: A Shared Future for Western Indian Ocean Region”.
