Afridi hinted he might join for another franchise in the Next PSL
Former Pakistan’s captain and hard hitting cricket all-rounder Shahid Afridi has quit his affiliations as president ship and as a player of Peshawar Zalmi due to personal reasons.
Star all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi announced his resign from PSL franchise team Peshawar Zalmi’s president ship and as player after two successful seasons, his statement indicating that he would join a new team ahead of the next season of PSL.
According to shahid Afridi’s message on personal twitter account, Afridi wrote about announced his resignation and expressed best wishes for the Zalmis.
In his first twitter message Boom Boom said, “Won the cup with one team,Time for another. I’m announcing my end of service as president and player of Peshawar Zalmi Team due to my personal reasons”.
After some moments Afridi shared another message regarding Zalmi fans, “My best wishes with Peshawar Zalmi and as far as my Peshawar fans are concerned I know they are with me wherever I go”, he added.
When inquired about Boom Boom’s sudden announcement owner of Peshawar Zalmi Javid afridi said, “Like many, I am also surprised after reading his tweets. I have no clue and am not aware about the reason he wrote this. But definitely I would like to speak to him before making any further comment”.
Incidentally, Afridi had talked about the importance of Peshawar Zalmi to his local region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, yesterday, during the Emirates Airline Twenty20 Trophy in Dubai. “We have not created the Peshawar Zalmi team to play just a month’s cricket in the PSL and then sit at home,” Afridi had said. “Our work goes beyond the cricket field and we want to change the lives of the underprivileged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
At first edition of Pakistan Super League, Shahid Afridi led Peshawar Zalmi but stepped aside from captain’s role after being named as the president of Franchise’s and handed over captaincy to West Indian Darren Sammy in the second edition of PSL.
It is expected that Afridi will be part of another PSL team in the third season.
