‘Britain in talks with other countries to get Kashmir issue resolved’

A British parliamentary delegation, on a visit to Pakistan, has expressed concerns over the deteriorating human rights violations in Indian occupied Kashmir.

The group of British parliamentarians led by Member British Parliament Andrew Flint said the Kashmir dispute is a human rights issue and urged the world to listen to the voices of the Kashmiris.

“I stand with truth. It is the basic right of people to live with freedom and peace. The rest of the world needs to know what is happening in Kashmir,” Andrew Flint said.

Seeking attention of the world towards atrocities in Kashmir, they asked the United Nations to send an independent commission to ascertain the situation on the ground.

Addressing a joint news conference with President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan, British parliamentarians called for an early solution to the Kashmir issue in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions and as per the aspirations of its people.

The members of the delegation urged the international community to take notice of the Indian atrocities being inflicted on Kashmiri people in the occupied valley.

Wajid Khan, another member parliament and part of the delegation, strongly condemned the human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and said the blood of the Kashmiris is “as valuable as that of anyone living in Britain or any other country”.

“We want to listen to the Kashmiris’ voices by going there,” he said. “Kashmiris have to decide about their future themselves.”

The member of delegation said it would request the Indian ambassador back home to allow a fact-finding mission to visit occupied Kashmir. The members British Parliament will visit Azad Kashmir tomorrow Friday.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan said the British parliamentarians are playing an important role in highlighting the Kashmir dispute.

“We are in talks with other countries to get the Kashmir issue resolved. We have people from 28 countries in our parliament and we want to represent Kashmiris,” said the delegation leader who met AJK President Masood Khan.

“Kashmiris will one day achieve independence from the tyrant forces,” the member of the British Parliament said while holding a joint presser with the president on Thursday.

He said particularly the Labour party is at the forefront and has expressed commitment to play its role in resolution of the lingering Kashmir dispute.

Sardar Masood called the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti a “facilitator” in the murder of innocent Kashmiris and said she should resign if she cannot put an end to the atrocities.
