China considering a new CPEC route for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Chinese government wanted expeditious execution of developmental schemes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Chinese new ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Yao Jing paid his maiden visit to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, met with Chief Minister KP Pervez Khattak and Speaker KP Assembly Asad Qaisar at CM House Peshawar.

China’s ambassador told that his government was keen to undertake development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and befriend its people.

The Chinese government wanted the expeditious execution of developmental schemes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and considering a new CPEC route.

China’s ambassador Yao Jing has dispelled the impression that their country losing interest in the CPEC projects, he told that the people of Pakistan valued Chinese people more than other nations of the world.

Yao Jing appreciated the steps of KP government for expediting the developmental process in the province, strengthening the institutions and ensuring the welfare of the masses.

CM Pervez Khattak appreciated the role of the Chinese government in the development of the province and informed the ambassador that maximum opportunities were created for the foreign and domestic investors and assured all-out assistance of provincial government to China in completing the CPEC projects.

Pervez Khattak said his provincial government wanted a crystal clear stance and concrete steps of Chinese and Pakistani governments on western route of CPEC as he said it was also a mega project for the overall prosperity of entire central Asia.

CM Khattak also enumerated the steps his government was taking for completing the CPEC and Non-CPEC projects especially in hydel power generation, oil & gas, mines and mineral exploration.

China government would need the help of KP government side by side with that of the governments of Pakistan and Afghanistan to cherish the real targets of this plan.

According to sources, CPEC’s special economic zones (SEZs) in the provinces would attract investment from different sectors, thus boosting the overall economic status of the provinces.

Furthermore, Khattak’s government signed two pacts – a memorandum of understanding and an engagement agreement – with China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) in a span of 24 hours.

China has proved to be a trustworthy friend of Pakistan by investing and completing mega energy projects in the country that helped overcome energy crisis.

According to experts the corridor, described as a “game changer” by Pakistani officials, faces domestic political and security challenges, as well as opposition from India.
