A heartwarming gesture by a Chinese kid touched many and is being praised on social media.

A young Chinese boy Mingxuan has donated most of his savings to help Pakistani children affected by the devastating floods in Pakistan that have killed more than 1,200 people including 441 children since June.

“Young Mingxuan donated all his new year’s money to help children affected by floods in Pakistan” wrote Pakistani Ambassador to China Moin ul Haque.

This is “indeed a touching and heart warming gesture. Thank you our little friend” he said.

The Pakistani diplomat termed it a classic example of Chinese phrase Jin qi suo you (尽其所有) which means giving everything that one has.

He also shared the photos of young Mingxuan with savings box in his hand to send money to Pakistan. The kid had been saving his money but decided it would be better used by Pakistani families facing catastrophic floods

Pakistanis were deeply touched by the spirit of generosity of Chinese people especially little children. This little but heart touching move has created a new spirit of friendship and solidarity between two iron-brothers and strategic partners.

The Pakistani embassy in China also said that they have collected one million yuan worth of donations in the first few hours for PM’s Flood Relief Fund. “The outpouring of generosity and concern by our Chinese friends is so touching and so special. Thank you China!”

Catastrophic floods in Pakistan

The unprecedented monsoon rains and devastating floods have affected more than 33 million people, including approximately 16 million children.

More than three million children are in need of humanitarian assistance and at increased risk of waterborne diseases, drowning and malnutrition due to the most severe flooding in Pakistan’s recent history, UNICEF has warned today.

“When disasters hit, children are always among the most vulnerable,” said Abdullah Fadil, UNICEF Representative in Pakistan. “These floods have already taken a devastating toll on children and families, and the situation could become even worse.”
