Russia has expressed an interest in getting their vaccine registered in Pakistan.

A Russian official has sought details about getting the COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V registered in Pakistan in a letter written to Special Assistant to Prime Minister Dr Faisal Sultan by Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund.

The letter said that Sputnik V is one of the first registered vaccines in the world which has been “certified for emergency use.”

In August, Russia became the first country to approve a vaccine, months ahead of other countries. The vaccine Sputnik V has since been approved for use in Belarus, Argentina and Guinea. 

More than 800,000 people in Russia have been inoculated so far against the new coronavirus and more than 1.5 million vaccine doses have been dispatched since Russi began rolling out its Sputnik V vaccine in early December.

  • The Sputnik V vaccine’s efficacy is confirmed at 91.4 percent.
  • The vaccine is stored at a temperature of +2 to +8 degrees Celsius which enables it to be easily distributed to international markets.
  • The cost of one dose of the vaccine for international markets will be less than $10.
