CPSP awards COAS with honorary fellowship

ISLAMABAD (Pakistan) – The 49th convocation ceremony of College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSP), was held today at Jinnah Convocation Centre, Islamabad. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif was chief guest and also awarded the fellowship of the college.

The CPSP has awarded fellowship to any personality after a 26 years pause as prior to him, former President Muhammad Ayub Khan, Prince Karim Agha Khan and former premier Benazir Bhutto were decorated with this honour, according to sources.

President CPSP Professor Zafarullah Chaudhry in his welcome address acknowledged efforts of Raheel Sharif for peace and stability, achievements against terrorism and modernizing the health care system in Pakistan Army.

The army chief said every individual have an enormous responsibility and that the passed out students will rise and shine as the future of Pakistan and environment of fear and retribution from terrorists and criminals reduced in Pakistan and security needs to be transformed into an enduring peace and stability in the country. He stressed upon the need to invest on future generations in order to steer the country towards success.

Addressing on the occasion, the Army chief said that these days an environment had been created in Pakistan where fear and retribution from the terrorists and criminals had largely been reduced. He said that relative security needs to be transformed into an enduring peace and stability and approach of the whole nation was important to bring army’s endeavors to a logical end.

In the end while congratulating the graduating students, the COAS said to steer the country towards success, “we need to invest in our future generations. To this end, every individual, especially the educated professionals, have an enormous responsibility.

General Raheel appreciated the College leadership for improving postgraduate medical education and health care services in the country.
