Iranian-American actress Tala Ashe will don the role of Zari – a Muslim computer hacktivist

American comic book publisher – DC Comics introduces first Muslim female Superhero as Zari in its latest season of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”.

An Iranian-American actress Tala Ashe will play the role of Zari in ‘Legends of Tomorrow‘- a Muslim Superhero computer hacktivist from the year 2042.

According to the reports, the new exciting character is also a direct response to Islamophobia in America. The idea of introducing Muslim character came after US President Trump banning travelers from several Muslim countries.

Latest photos ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ reveal the first look at Zari Adrianna Tomaz. Tala Ashe will portray the show’s first Muslim-American superhero, a hacktivist with special powers who will meet the Legends in the year 2042 amid a dystopian police state. Zari’s world figures to be quite different from the damaged Los Angeles and ancient Rome settings of the season premiere.

Played by Iranian-American actress Tala Ashe, Zari will join the time travelling heroes Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill), Atom (Brandon Routh), Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell) and Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) in Episode 3 of Season 3 of the show.

While talking to the press in Los Angeles, showrunner Marc Guggenheim says that since he and his team began working on Legends Of Tomorrow, “We all recognised that there weren’t enough women on the bridge of the Waverider”, the team’s time-jumping ship.

Previously, US President Donald Trump unveiled a ban on travellers from several Muslim countries. So the main reason to get a Muslim hero in the show was a retort to that. “All sort of gravitated towards the idea of the character being Muslim”, says Guggenheim.

“One of the things that we really pride ourselves on is that someone’s race, religion or sexual orientation is not the only aspect of their character” said the director of the show.

DC Comic is an American comic book publisher and home to the “World’s Greatest Super Heroes” including SUPERMAN, BATMAN and WONDER WOMAN.
