Rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the dead and injured to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Talagang
At least 27 people have lost their lives and more than 50 sustained injuries as a passenger bus going to Raiwind from Kohat plunged into a ditch near Dhok Pathan of Talagang, in Punjab’s Chakwal division.
According to rescue 1122 teams, the accident took place near the Dhok Pathan area Kallar Kahar and was caused by brake failure.
The reports says about 90 passengers were aboard over passengers bus. At least 41 of the injured were rushed to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Talagang for medical treatment and 12 critically injured shifted to a Rawalpindi hospital, while medical staff feared there may be more deaths.
The local rescue sources said, bus fell from the height of 150 feet and was completely destroyed in the accident while the Bus driver and conductor also died.
The dead bodies were rushed to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Talagang for autopsy.
The on-board passengers were heading to Kohat from Raiwand, most of the passengers were members of Tableeghi Jamaat and were returning home after attending their annual gathering “Tableeghi Etima” at Lahore.
According to latest survey Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) are serious but ignored problem in Pakistan. Now this problem is under limelight due to disastrous impacts over society in general and over economy in particular.
Kallar Kahar, Talagang is notorious for deadly road accidents. In September 2011, as many as 37 people, mostly children, were killed in a bus crash, while in April 2014, some 15 people were killed in another bus crash. Car accidents are also common in the windy region.
