NEW YORK: Dr Maleeha Lodhi, has assumed the charge of Pakistan’s first woman ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations after Ambassador Masood Ali Khan’s tenure ended.
Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi considered an expert on regional affairs took the charge of her new office on February 26. She also previously served as Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States and Britain.
Speaking on the occasion she pledged to safeguard the country’s interests at the UN. She said it was a privilege to represent Pakistan at a critical moment as the world was undergoing fundamental changes.
Addressing the issue of Kashmir discord and skirmishes on the border between India and Pakistan, she said both countries should work for the promotion of peace and stability in the region.
