Dreadful bus crash kills one, injures 24 in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD – A man was killed and 24 female students of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) were injured after the university bus rammed into a footpath at the G-11 signal on Kashmir Highway here on Wednesday morning.

According to police and rescue officials, the bus carrying more than 50 students of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) went out of driver’s control and rammed into footpath on the Kashmir Highway. The deceased, reportedly identified as a university student, was trampled to death in the bus crash.

The injured were shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), while they were discharged after first aid.

An official of the IIUI said that the accident took place due to brake failure caused.

Rector IIUI, Dr Masoom Yasinzai and President IIUI visited the hospital to inquire about the injured, while they expressed deep grief and sorrow on the loss of a life in unfortunate happening.

Deans, Director General IIUI, Director female campus, faculty members and officers reached the hospital and inquired about the health of injured and ensured them of maximum cooperation.

Last month, at least 47 children were injured when a public transport bus and two school buses collided in United Arab Emirates capital Abu Dhabi, police said.
