Pakistan Pavilion at the Expo 2020 in Dubai received an overwhelming response with 55,000 visitors in only the Opening Week of mega event, the Prime Minister’s Adviser for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood said in a statement.

The adviser said that the number of visitors coming to the Pakistan Pavilion in the first week was beyond expectations.

“We are pleased to announce that Pakistan Pavilion received 55,000 visitors in its opening week of Expo 2020. The response we received was overwhelming, and the number of visitors we had in the first week surpassed expectations,” tweeted Dawood.

Explaining the message the Pakistan government plans to give through the pavilion, Dawood said that Pakistan had “largely been misrepresented” and the country hopes to change that perspective with the pavilion.

“It [Pakistan] is a country with great opportunities for tourism and investment,” said the adviser. “It was the artists’ creativity and skills that helped the country showcase “actual Pakistan to a broader audience”, he added.

The PM’s aide thanked all the visitors for showing interest in the culture of Pakistan, its richness and diversity.

The Pakistan Pavilion

The Pakistan Pavilion under the theme “Pakistan: The Hidden Treasure”, is located in the “Opportunity District” with a total covered area of 35,000-square feet.

The outlook of the pavilion has been designed by an internationally recognized artist, Rashid Rana. Rana’s work is displayed at a British museum in the important public collections.

Divided into eight key areas, the Pavilion will showcase the country’s best-kept hidden treasures. The Pavilion also features a custom-made Pakistani cuisine restaurant called “The Dhaaba” featuring Pakistan’s authentic, centuries-old cuisine for visitors from around the globe. The eatery will also offer indigenous regional dishes.

A souvenir shop featuring Pakistan’s art and craft works will also be part of the pavilion from where visitors can take home a bit of Pakistani culture from its array of cultural memorabilia available.
