Terrorists carried out 23 suicide attacks in different parts of the country in 2017
Pakistan’s Investigation Agency FIA claims that human smuggling incidents in Balochistan have witnessed a decline in 2017 when compared to the previous year.
Federal Investigation Agency apprehended 1,620 persons for attempting to illegally cross the Iranian border.
A day after the tragic killing of 15 illegal immigrants headed for Europe in Balochistan, a key government agency dealing with the issue claims that the human smuggling has significantly declined in the country this year.
According to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), they have nabbed 326 land route agents this year for helping illegal immigrants cross the border with Iran for their ultimate entry into Europe.
They further said 8,512 persons for the offence in 2016, while 1,598 cases were registered against them and 1,620 persons were arrested while trying to cross the border without legal documents in 2017 and 829 cases were registered against them.
However human smuggling is still going on in the country especially through porous Balochistan border which is being managed by various government institutions.
According to sources, there is only one FIA check post on Iran border while rest of the area is managed by other law enforcement agencies which are doing their best to prevent human smuggling but still it is not an easy job as the long porous border is hard to manage.
The FIA calculations said that more than 100,000 persons travelled to Iran and other countries illegally from Balochistan in 2017.
According to Balochistan’s home department, 260 people lost their lives in militant attacks and blasts, which include 297 terrorist attacks and 9, were suicide.
Last year in 2016 More than 950 people were killed and 1,815 others injured in 500 militant attacks which included 1,104 actions against militants across the country, killed 859 militants and arrested 4,142 suspected militants.
Balochistan remained the most troublesome province where the majority of the militant attacks, maximum deaths and injuries were recorded, however, an unprecedented 24 percent increase in the number of injured was recorded in 2016.
