The foreign minister said that the hosts Russia did not agree with India’s perspective on the matter
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that India is losing credibility at international stage owing to its hostile designs towards others. He was commenting after Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval walked out of a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting after his objection about Pakistan’s political map in the background of National Security Moeed Yusuf during the online meeting was overruled.
“Russia, the host of the meeting, did not accept India’s perspective,” Qureshi said. He further added that India violated the organization’s rules by raising the issue at the platform.
“Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory and there are UN resolutions about the issue,” he said.
India called the map fictitious and continued with the usual mudslinging on Pakistan. India accused Pakistan of using the platform for political purposes. Foreign Office responded said that the map reaffirms Pakistan’s commitment to the UN resolutions on the disputed territory.
FO spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said Pakistan is committed to SCO as a platform for regional cooperation.
“We are actively playing a positive and constructive role and following the SCO charter to not let our bilateral relations with any country impact our engagement with SCO,” Chaudhri said.
The National Security Division (NSD), in a media statement, lambasted India, saying that India has no legal right to call a disputed territory as its own. “Pakistan highlighted that India under international law had no legal rights to claim the internationally recognized disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir as part of India,” the statement read.
“Pakistan informed the SCO secretariat that India’s illegal and unilateral actions in occupied Kashmir were in grave violation of the UN Charter and UNSC resolutions on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute,” the statement noted.
