Google’s Pixel and Nexus phones and tablets will also soon see the update, with beta programme participants receiving it first.

You’ll need either Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C or Nexus Player to partake, and a somewhat adventurous spirit — though it’s a far less risky process than it once was.

If you’re already in the public beta, you will receive an over-the-air update to the final version of Android Oreo shortly.

  1. Head to Android Beta program portal on your Pixel or Nexus phone or tablet.
  2. Sign into the Google accountassociated with that phone.
  3. Scroll down to Your eligible devices.
  4. Find the device you want to enrol in the Beta program and tap Enrol device.
  5. Follow the prompts to accept the over-the-air download.

If you opted into the beta and want to roll back, just unenroll from the beta by simply pressing the button on the Android Beta program page to unenroll and restart your phone.

However, once the beta program ends, which it should be soon, you won’t be able to roll back.
