Jennifer Lawrence to mark Directorial debut

Must Read

Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is planning to make her big-screen, directorial debut with Project Delirium, but doesn’t plan to act in the film.

The actress, who is currently appearing in The Hunger Games:Mockinjay Part 2, and then the upcoming

Joy, spoke with EW of her want to direct, which apparently goes back to when she was 16.

Deadline reported the movie is based on a 2002 New Yorker magazine article penned by Raffi Khatchadourian about the military career of Army Col. James S. Ketchum, a psychiatrist involved in experiments in the 1960s and ’70s using psychochemicals that temporarily incapacitated the minds of soldiers in the field.

“It’s funny, I’ve wanted to direct since I was 16 and always thought I should start making steps towards that,” Lawrence says. “If I had tried to do it earlier, I wouldn’t have been ready. Now I actually feel ready.”

“I’ve signed on to direct something called Project Delirium — it’s based on this article about mental warfare in the ’60s, like an acid experiment gone terribly wrong.”

No word on when this project will happen, but the actress has quite the upcoming slate. Besides the aforementioned movies, Lawrence has Passengers in which she’ll star opposite Chris Pratt, and a Steven Spielberg project called It’s What I Do.

The film is being financed by 2929, with Lawrence and her partner Justine Ciarrocchi producing with Todd Wagner and Ben Cosgrove.
