Jordanian King Abdullah-II has arrived in Islamabad on two-day official visit on the invitation of President Mamnoon Hussain

According to Pakistan’s foreign ministry Jordan’s King Abdullah II has arrived in the capital Islamabad, to meet top government officials.

He was warmly received at Noor Khan Airbase by President Mamnoon Hussain and 21 gun salute was given in honor of the distinguished guest.

Abdullah is accompanied by Jordan’s foreign minister and other civil and military officials. The visiting monarch is expected to hold meetings with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and the president.

Both the leadership of brotherly Muslim countries looking forward to enhance the bilateral cooperation and develop consensus on the international matter in the better interest of two countries.

The visiting king is to hold talks with President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. Bilateral, regional and international matters of mutual interest will be discussed.

The visit of the King Abdullah-II is expected to give a new impetus to the existing fraternal bonds between the two brotherly countries.

Pakistan-Jordan contacts began in the 1970s and 1980s, growing stronger since the mid-1990s. In 2001, Pakistani leaders visited Amman to discuss full-scale cooperation’s.

Diplomatic interaction goes back to the early days of both countries, as His Majesty the late King Hussein visited Pakistan for the first time in 1954, while His Majesty King Abdullah came to Islamabad in 2007 to enhance bilateral relations, particularly in economy, trade, science and culture.

Regarding the war on terror, both states face a threat from radical interpretations of Islam, thus they found a “common ground to galvanize the silent majority in the Muslim world against extremist tendencies

Jordan helped Pakistan during an earthquake in 2005, as well as during floods in 2010/11, on the other hand Pakistan provided assistance to Jordan in 2013 to help the Kingdom deal with the influx of Syrian refugees.
