Juma-tul-Wida observed with religious reverence in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – Jumatul Wida, the last Friday of holy month of Ramazan, was observed with religious zeal and fervor across the country on Friday.

Jumatul Wida has a special significance since it is a prelude to the departure of holy month of Ramadan and considered the harbinger of the end of the showering of divine blessings that characterize the holy month. Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) also stressed the sanctity of this day.

A large number of fasting faithful thronged the mosques and Imam Bargahs to offer Friday prayers and seek blessings of God Almighty.

In Islamabad, the main congregation was held at the Faisal Mosque where envoys of Islamic countries and the parliamentarians offered their prayers.

In Lahore, large gatherings of Friday prayers were held at Data Darbar, Badshahi Mosque, Jamia Naeemia and Grand Jamia Mosque in Bahria Town, Shuhada Mosque and Jamia Ashrafia.

Ulema stress upon Muslims to purify their souls through greater dedication to prayer and seek forgiveness of Almighty Allah.

On the occasion, special prayers were offered for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan, unity of Muslims the world over and their emancipation.

Prayers were also offered for independence of Kashmir, Palestine and other parts of world where Muslims are engaged in the struggle for their right to self-determination. They will pray for the success of Muslims’ freedom movements from the yoke of occupation forces.

Security was extended while dividing the mosques in three categories.

The 167 mosques included in A-category were declared as sensitive whereas 767 mosques were placed in B and C category.

More than 4200 police officials were deployed for safekeeping the mosques whereas police patrolling was increased in the metropolis while installing checkpoints at important points.

Foolproof security arrangements were made and additional contingent of police were deployed outside mosques in Balochistan including Quetta.

Strict safety measures were devised on all the entry and exit points of the province with additional police and Frontier Constabularly (FC) officials positioned outside mosques, imambargahs and madrassas.
