At least eight people died and more than 25 wounded in a suicide car bombing near NATO convoy  in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, officials said

A suicide attacker blew up explosive-laden vehicle next to the convoy foreign forces near a National Defence Security (NDS) checkpoint on Shash Darak road in the central Macroyan area early on Wednesday, military officials said.

“We are checking the details, Unfortunately most of the victims are civilians”, Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danish updated the news agency.

Suicide blast caused around eight civilians dead and more then 25 injured, the injured were being shifted nearest hospital for further care.

US Navy Capt. Bill Salvin said three US service members were injured in the blast, which took place near the US embassy.

“The injured were transferred to two hospitals in the area; the Wazir Akbar Khan Hospital and the Emergency Hospital,” Wahid Majrouh, a health ministry spokesman, told media

“Some of the wounded are in a critical condition,” health ministry spokesman  further added.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) group claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement carried by its Aamaq media arm.

“There are dead bodies lying on the road here, several are believed to be from the NDS,”an eye witnessed Abdul Haq said.

“Police are clearing the area and the city is on high alert,” he added.

ISIS associated groups has strengthen their hold in recent years in the region, ISIS is now challenging both the US-backed government and the much larger Taliban insurgency.
