Maldives President receives new Pakistani Ambassador

According to an official press release from Maldives President’s Office at a ceremony, President Abdulla Yameen welcomed the Ambassador to the Maldives and congratulated him on the commencement of his term as the Ambassador of Pakistan to the Maldives.

During the call, the President extended greetings and good wishes from the Government and the people of the Maldives to President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the Government and the people of Pakistan.

The President highlighted the strong partnership of firm solidarity and excellent bilateral ties that exist between the Maldives and Pakistan. The President also noted that the Maldives and Pakistan share common views on an array of issues of mutual interest, specifically on the international arena.

The Ambassador returned the President’s sentiments with greetings and good wishes of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan to the President and the people of the Maldives, and expressed assurances of Pakistan’s commitment to continue in its role as a friend and partner to the Maldives. He further noted Pakistan stands ready to extend support and assistance to the Maldives in every way possible.

The President was accompanied at the call by the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Adam Shareef, the Minister of State for Foreign Relations at the President’s Office, H.E. Mohamed Naseer and the Foreign Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ahmed Sareer.
