Ahed Tamimi has been hailed as a hero by Palestinians

The military trial of a teenage Palestinian girl charged viral ‘slapping video’ to the two Israeli soldiers has been postponed until February 13th.

Ahed Tamimi, who was charged with assault and incitement after she slapped an Israeli soldier in her village in the occupied West Bank, is facing another delay to her trial.

Seventeen-years-old Ahed Tamimi and her mother Nariman have been ordered to be held in military custody throughout their trial.

The incident was captured on video and widely shared online and Tamimi family says a relative was shot in the head with a rubber bullet during protests the same day the video was filmed.

Palestinian hero girl had been due to stand trial on January 31 along with her mother before the case was postponed until February 6. It is now set for February 13, her lawyer and the Israeli military said.

The footage shows Tamimi and her cousin approaching two Israeli soldiers and telling them to leave before shoving, kicking and slapping them.

Ahed Tamimi, who was 16 at the time of her arrest, has been hailed as a hero by Palestinians who see her as bravely standing up to Israel’s occupation of the West Bank.

According Defense lawyer Gaby Lasky said that the trial, which was set to begin Tuesday, was delayed because the prosecution was slow in sharing evidence.

The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has criticised Israeli authorities’ actions in the case, while the European Union has expressed concern over Israel’s detention of minors, including Ahed Tamimi.

Qadoura Fares, chairman of the Palestinian Prisoners Club, earlier said the charges were false. “Their aim is to terrorize people, and they are trying to deter children and others.

According to Palestine the global community must pressure Tel Aviv to release Ahed and all Palestinian children currently in detention and heavily censure the Israeli state if it continues to imprison, torture or kill minors.
