Five people have died while many are still missing in Mumbai
The heavy rains and winds of ongoing monsoon drift have paralysed India’s financial capital Mumbai for two consecutive days.
According to Indian media, Mumbai has been completely lashed once again after receiving 298 mm of rain within a nine-hour period.
As per official reports, five people have died in the deluge while many are still missing and more rain is expected in coming hours.
Major roads and subways observed traffic jams at Andheri, Santacruz and Khar continued to cause hardships to the motorists.
Central and western railways have shortly-terminated, diverted or cancelled a number of trains due to submergence of tracks and signal failure.
Mumbai police have cautioned people to stay inside their homes and to abandon vehicles stuck in water amid the deluge.
Police also offering help if for car breakdowns too. “If your car is out of fuel/stranded #Diall100 or 8454999999 or tweet us for free towing till the nearest fuel pump or garage #mumbairains,” the Mumbai police tweeted.

Indian legendary singer Lata Mangeskar has lauded the efforts by locals and religious places in Mumbai to help people seeking shelters after the city was flooded due to heavy rains.

India’s National Disaster Management Authority has been updating its social media feeds with safety advisories and helpline phone numbers.
The 2015 flooding in Chennai , in the wake of the most destructive rainfall the city witnessed in the last 100 years , had left it battered and bruised.
