United States lauds professionalism of Pakistan Navy in maritime security.
United States Chief of Naval Operations Admiral John Richardson conferred the US Legion of Merit (Degree of Commander) award on Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, who is on an official visit to the US, in a full honours ceremony held at the US Navy Yard.
During his official visit, Admiral Zakaullah was received by Admiral Richardson at a ceremony where a contingent of the US Navy presented him with a guard of honour at the US Navy Yard.
Later on, Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah met with Admiral Richardson, the Naval Chief discussed matters of mutual interest, including bilateral naval collaboration and the security environment in the Indian Ocean Region.
US Legion of Merit Admiral Richardson also lauded professionalism of the Pakistan Navy, Pakistan’s efforts in the war against terrorism. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s role and contributions in spearheading various initiatives for maritime security and stability in the region.
Naval Chief thanked Admiral Richardson for active participation of the US Navy in Multinational Naval Exercise AMAN-17 hosted by Pakistan Navy in Karachi.
Admiral Zakaullah also met Deputy Commander US Fleet Forces Command, Vice Admiral Richard Breckenridge at the US Fleet Forces Headquarters Norfolk Virginia, wherein he was given detailed briefings regarding the US Fleet Forces Command.
Earlier, the naval chief exchanged his views on mutual interest affairs during meetings with Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Laurel Miller, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Political-Military Affairs Tina Kaidanow and Congressman Brad Sherman.
