Pakistan and Azerbaijan to boost defense partnership

Pakistan and Azerbaijan further strengthen air force, defense ties

Pakistan and Azerbaijan officials have agreed to further boost defense partnership with a focus on improved ties between the two air forces.

Pakistan Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan led a delegation to Baku on January 11 where he held a detailed meeting with the Commander Azerbijan Air Force, Lt Gen Ramiz Tahirov.

The officials discussed enhanced cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan in the military, military-technical, and military-educational spheres. The two sides agreed to improve cooperation between the air forces, joint military exercises and training of personnel.

PAF chief also held a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov to further strengthen the friendship and strategic partnership between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, Azerbaijan Air Force Commander lauded the high standards of the PAF training system and the indigenization efforts of PAF, especially the JF-17 program.

Pakistan Air Chief praised the professionalism of the Azerbaijan Air Force and assured “PAF’s full support” to Azerbaijan, especially in the training domain. He stressed to expand the training of Pakistan Air Force helicopter crews at Azerbaijan’s aviation training centers.

Expressing satisfaction with the training of Azerbaijan Air Force pilots at the Pakistan Air Force Academy, Lieutenant General Tahirov stressed to improve cooperation in the military-educational and other fields between the air forces of the two countries.

Pakistan Air Force Chief congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on the victory in the Patriotic War and prayed for the souls of all servicemen and civilians during his visit to the Martyrs’ Alley.
