Pakistan and Turkey air forces agree to expand partnership, defense production

Pakistan-Turkey defense ties to be further strengthened as PAF chief hold meetings with senior Turkish officials

Pakistan and Turkish top military officials have agreed to enhance cooperation in the fields of defense production, security and training.

During his interaction with the top Turkish defense officials, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, emphasized to enhance cooperation with Turkey in the fields of defense production.

Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, during his four-day visit (January 12-16) to Turkey, held a series of meetings with the senior Turkish defense officials to further develop Pakistan-Turkey defense ties.

Pakistan and Turkey relationship is “unique and enviable” Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, adding that he considers Turkey as a second home. “We are two countries, one nation,” he told Anadolu Agency.

Pakistan Air Force chief held separate meetings with Turkish Air Force Commander General Hasan Kucukakyuz, Turkey’s Chief of General Staff General Yasar Guler, Turkey’s National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and Head of the Turkish Defence Industries Prof. Dr. Ismail Demir.

Pakistan-Turkey defense collaboration

Pakistan Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan and Commander Turkish Air Force General Hasan Küçükakyüz discussed matters of mutual interest to further improve ties between the air forces of the two brotherly countries. Both sides discussed in detail ways to enhance collaboration and exchange expertise to meet the challenges of the contemporary world.

Training and exchange of pilots, as well as defense production, remained the key focus. The discussion also included Pakistan’s participation in the Anatolian Eagle multinational exercise in Turkey and Turkish Air force participation in various exercises organized by Pakistan Air Force.

PAF chief also thanked Turkey for the regular participation of Solo Turk in the national day celebrations of Pakistan.

During his stay in Ankara, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan also visited Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), leading technology firm HAVELSAN as well as state-owned defense firm ASFAT and leading defense industry company, ASELSAN.
