Pakistan and Turkey to enhance cooperation between Armed Forces to address common challenges of regional security.
Pakistani and Turkish Special Forces took part in joint military exercise ‘JINNAH’ held between 4-19 March 2017 in Ankara, Turkey.
The joint military exercise ‘JINNAH’, named after Quaid-i Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, was conducted by the Special Forces of Turkey and Pakistan between 4-19 March 2017 in Golbasi/Ankara, according to a press release by the Turkish Armed Forces.
The joint exercise is aimed at improving friendship, cooperation and coordination between the two brotherly countries. The exercise also intends to share knowledge and experience and to develop the capability of initiating joint operations between the Special Forces of the two countries.
The joint military exercises are conducted alternately in two countries since 1998. The exercises held in Turkey are named ‘JINNAH’, while those held in Pakistan are named ‘ATATURK’.
In earlier March, Commander of Turkish Armed Forces General Hulusi Akar and Pakistan’s military leadership held meeting in Islamabad to further enhance cooperation between Armed Forces of the two countries to address common challenges relating to regional security.
Pakistan’s Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Hayat discussed the matters of mutual interest with emphasis on geo-strategic situation and security challenges and reaffirmed cooperation.
Turkish General Hulusi Akar discussed matters related to regional security with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa. The visiting dignitary acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in the fight against terrorism and appreciated the launching of operation Radd-ul-Fasaad for elimination of terrorism from Pakistan.
General Bajwa emphasized the need to further enhance the existing military to military cooperation between the two brotherly Armed Forces.
Turkish General Hulusi Akar also had interaction with Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, Chief of the Air Staff Pakistan Air Force, and discussed matters of professional interest and areas of mutual co-operation.
