Pakistan Army takes gold medal in UK’s Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2017

Annual international military patrolling event held in United Kingdom

A team of Pakistan Army has won a gold medal in Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2017 held in the United Kingdom.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement, it said that Pakistan Army has won a gold medal in an annual international military patrolling event held in the United Kingdom.

The annual international patrolling exercise event was organised and run by the 160th Infantry Brigade and Headquarters Wales, is both physically and mentally demanding and is a highlight in the British Army’s training calendar.

“This year, the 59 Punjab from the 37th Division/1 Corps represented the Pakistan Army in Cambrian Patrol in the UK and won a Gold medal.” Pakistan Defence tweeted.

A total of 131 teams from across the world armies participated in the event, known as one of the toughest patrolling test for military personnel, statement added.

“Top marks again for Pakistan. Year after year they deliver a polished performance. Another hard-earned gold medal,” the British Army in Wales tweeted.

According to the British Army, the exercise is unique, world-class and the largest of its kind with some foreign entrants having to claim the right to take part in the UK by winning through their own domestic competition.

Cambrian Patrol is physically challenging and arduous exercise which concentrates on teamwork for achieving the mission held in the most unforgiving mountainous terrain of mid-Wales, UK, amid tactical and technical challenges, testing leadership, self-discipline, courage and determination of the participants.

Internationally, it is regarded as one of the toughest tests the modern-day soldier can face, with some overseas entrants having to claim the right to take part by winning their own domestic competition.

This is the fourth time Pakistan Army has won gold in the Cambrian Patrol winning the competition, Pakistan Army also won gold medal in 2010, 2014, 2015, 2016 annual Cambrian Patrol competition.
