Pakistan, China ink deal to further enhance defense cooperation

China’s Minister for National Defense met with the COAS and discussed matters of mutual importance

Pakistan and China signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for further enhancement of defense cooperation between the armies of the two countries. Pakistan and China have a strong military relationship including working on several major projects together. These include the production of JF-17 Thunder fighter jets.

The visiting dignitaries were presented with a guard of honor on their arrival. They also laid a floral wreath at the Yadgaar e Shuhada (The Martyr’s Memorial).

 The Chinese delegation led by General Wei Fenghe, Minister of National Defense of China, met Chief of Army Staff Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa at the GHQ before the signing of the MoU. The two sides discussed matters of mutual importance and the security issues related to the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The visiting dignitary appreciated the Pakistan Army’s effort to ensure the safety and security of CPEC.

Bajwa said that the two nations will continue to stand with each other in the future. “Pakistan Army greatly values our time-tested and brotherly relations with China. We have been standing together all along, and our relations will be no different in wake of future challenges” the COAS said.
